Housing: Student cabins are available in doubles or triples, either with or without a porthole. Liners and blankets are provided and laundry services are available. Three meals a day are served throughout the semester, at sea and in port. The ship continues to be the students' dormitory as they experience each country visited.
Special Notes: The ships are equipped with a clinic staffed by a qualified physician and certified resident nurses to serve the health needs of the community. Medical personnel are on duty 24 hours each day at sea. The Field Program is an integral part of Semester at Sea, actively involving you in the countries visited. Each semester's itinerary is carefully selected to provide you with the opportunity for a comparative approach to global education. Port stays of four to six days offer a first-hand look at the societies you will be studying in the classroom. Educational activities on land are designed to complement classroom instruction, and fieldwork provides 20% of the contact hours for course credit.
